Get to
Know About the Procedure:
The ClosureFast™ procedure makes use of
radiofrequency energy to treat patients suffering from varicose veins or
Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI) with accurate precision and effectiveness.
What is
CVI?
Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI) is a condition when
the walls and/or valves in the leg veins stop working effectively, and as a
result blood “pools” or amasses in the vein and it becomes difficult for the
blood from the legs to return to the heart.
How does
ClosureFast™ work?
The ClosureFast™ treatment makes use of a catheter
which is inserted into the affected vein through a small incision in the skin.
Dr. Umerani makes the use of ultrasound to treat
segments of 7 cm (or 3 cm for reduced refluxing lengths of the vein) each for
20 seconds.
A consistent and similar amount of heat is delivered by
the catheter to contract the collagen in the walls of the vein, which results
in their collapse and closing. Blood then redirects to healthy veins naturally.
The closed vein becomes a fibrous tissue and gradually is absorbed into the
surrounding tissue.
The
Benefits:
The whole procedure is performed under local anesthesia
and there is no need for general anesthesia or groin surgery, thus making
ClosureFast™ minimally invasive.
It’s a proven fact by studies that ClosureFast™
involves less pain, bruise, and complications and allows faster recovery in
patients as compared to 980 nm laser ablation.
Most patients see improvements in their symptoms within
one to two weeks after the treatment and are able to carry out normal
activities in a few days.
The treatment is quick i.e. it takes only 45-60 minutes
and most patients usually spend 2-3 hours at the facility due to normal
procedures before and after the treatment.
The procedure can be performed right in our vein care
center.
To
Conclude:
The ClosureFast™ procedure is performed as a medical
need after a proper diagnosis of the veins. It can produce cosmetic improvements
to address spider veins or cosmetic problems but the primary purpose should be
solely for the treatment of the diseased veins in the legs.
